To help the new owners complete this makeover within their two week timeline, we knew we had to find “in-stock” flooring and furniture. Once we had the floor tile and the seat cushions in hand, we used these colors to guide us toward granite and wall color selections. Then, with an island theme in mind, we collected art and accessories to add a bit of sparkle and color, all in time for the grand reopening!
We helped the client define the activities that would take place here and created a floor plan to guide furniture purchases. We used her favorite vintage style drapery as the inspiration for the color palette. Now the three teens and mom and dad use the new Family Library!
We accented one wall in a terra cotta paint color to emphasize the half round window, slider and double windows. We recommended long drapery panels throughout the room to give the illusion of height to balance the heaviness of the coffered ceiling. We set the furniture placement on the diagonal for better traffic flow.
We removed the unused door to the bathroom in the left corner and incorporated the space behind that door into the redesigned closet to accommodate the doctor’s numerous files. We replaced the bi-fold doors with pocket doors and centered them on the wall. This eliminated the annoying interference of the entryway door and maximized access to the enlarged closet interior.
