Karen became a professional organizer in 2003 after fine-tuning her organizational skills as international supporter services manager for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, followed by a career as a human resources professional. Her compassionate nature and need to empower individuals led her to become a professional organizer. In 2003 she created her company “Define and Design” to help people simplify and organize their lives. She is a member of NAPO, the National Association of Professional Organizers and NEPO, the New England Association of Professional Organizers.
Over the years, Karen has worked side-by-side with clients to understand their unique behaviors and preferences in order to create organizing systems that support their lifestyle. With the use of proven organizing techniques and principles she has helped clients adjust to a variety of major life changes such as the birth of a baby, marriage, purchasing and selling a home, divorce, the loss of a loved one and many other life transitions. She has also conducted many seminars and workshops on various organizing topics.

Allison graduated from Southeastern Massachusetts University with a B.F.A. in Design, shortly followed by marriage, raising her two children and a career in fine art. During the past eighteen years, her work has received awards on local and national levels. She has held membership with several art organizations throughout New England and is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America. She is represented locally by Art House Gallery in Brewster, MA, The Wellfleet Collection in Newton Center, MA and internationally by Picture House Gallery in Cornwall, England.
Allison applies the same design elements and principles that created award winning paintings to transform interior settings. Through the intense study and practice of painting she acquired intimate knowledge of the complicated relationship between light and color, a unique advantage in the color selection process and one that sets her guidance above the rest.Realizing the potential to serve their clientele more effectively, Karen and Allison formed a unique partnership, completed training for interior redesign and earned certification as Interior Redesign Specialists.
They believe that the way we live in our homes can be improved by first implementing organizational systems to support the practical side of life, and secondly employing good design principles to address the homes appearance. They are educated and experienced professionals in organization and visual aesthetics. They ask questions that move their clients down the path of decision making necessary to achieve a lasting difference in the way their clients live and improve their quality of life.
